Subcommittees

Paper Review

This is a rotating subcommittee that selects papers for publication and for presentation at the annual meeting, based on reviews provided by all committee members. The Paper Review Subcommittee is currently led by Rimon Rafiah and Jenny Liu. This group reviews submissions for the annual Transportation Research Board conference.

Communications

The primary communication tools of the committee are this website and a quarterly email newsletter.   The communications subcommittee works to maintain the information on the website, including meeting minutes, documents, calendar, and recent activity.  Another primary task is to collect and archive information from Transportation Economic Development Conferences.  For each newsletter, the group collects and edits relevant material from committee members and friends. Steve Bert and Naomi Stein currently lead this subcommittee, and are always seeking help in developing new material.  No technical knowledge is required to participate in this group.

Research Subcommittee

An important function of the Research Subcommittee is to stimulate research that addresses concerns, issues, or problems facing the transportation and economic development community. In support of this function, this subcommittee identifies, develops, and disseminates research need statements (RNS) for use by practitioners, researchers, and others. Chad Miller leads this subcommittee.

Strategic Plan

TRB has implemented a formal process of committee self-evaluation.  The process works on a three-year cycle, and involves drafting a strategic plan which serves as a framework for ongoing committee activity. Chris Williges leads this effort.

Committee Liaison

TED Committee shares interests with many other TRB committees and external organizations. To improve communications and cooperation with these other groups, we are assembling a list of members and friends who are activity involved in other groups with overlaping interests. There are lots of openings remaining, and we are also glad to have multiple liaison people with the same organization.
