Call for Papers - 99th Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

January 12−16, 2020 Washington, DC

​

The TRB Committee on Transportation and Economic Development (ADD10) invites you
to submit papers for the TRB Annual Meeting in January 2020. The Committee invites
papers relating to various broad topics including:

  • National, mega-regional and regional economic effects of long-distance freight

  • transport;

  • Economic development effects of place-based policies like transportation, freight strategies for climate change mitigation;

  • Economic development effects of place-based policies like transportation, freight strategies for poverty alleviation, addressing lagging regions or building economic resilience;

  • Connecting rural communities: economic development planning methods and case studies;

  • Evaluating transportation investment effects on national, regional and local competitiveness;

  • Economic resilience as it relates to transportation for local and regional economies;

  • Linkages of international trade, and national, regional and local economic development;

  • Economic development effects/implications of Cargo or (Freight)-Oriented-Development (COD/FOD)

  • Transportation aspects of business location and site selection decisions including siting of transportation technology facilities

  • Economic metrics and data for transportation decision making

  • Wider economic benefits effects of transportation projects (highway, aviation, freight and transit)

  • Economic development implications of alternative transportation planning and funding strategies;

  • Economic development implications of transportation technological innovations in intelligent transportation systems, zero-emission vehicles, transportation energy storage technologies, and other transformative technologies;

  • Economic development implications of connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and shared use mobility innovations.

  • Labor force/jobs and technological innovations in transportation

Papers (7,500 words or less) based on case studies, use of specific datasets in novel
ways and/or use of new datasets, new approaches and methodologies for addressing
these thematic areas and topics are strongly encouraged.

Paper Submission and Review Schedule

 

June 1, 2019: TRB paper submission website opens
August 1, 2019: Full paper submission deadline
October 31, 2019: Notice of paper acceptance and review results
November 15, 2019: Final revised paper due for TRB presentation
January 12-16, 2020: TRB conference presentation
February 15, 2020: Notice of Transportation Research Record-Journal of the TRB publication acceptance

 

Please indicate ADD10 on the Submission Review form to indicate that the paper is being submitted in response to this Call for Papers. Papers cannot be accepted after August 1 because of the time required for peer review and program development. Paper submission information is posted on the TRB website:
